Solution Architect, Federal Sector Services
Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our Federal Sector Services team.
Reporting to the Director, Federal Sector Services, The Solution Architect is a senior-level individual contributor within Esri Canada’s Federal Sector Services group, accountable for defining and governing solution architecture for complex, multi-component geospatial systems supporting Canadian federal government initiatives. The role provides technical leadership and architectural direction across application, integration, data, and platform concerns, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with both client requirements and Esri technology standards.
This role is hybrid within the Ottawa region.

A day in the life of a Solution Architect at Esri Canada:
- Define end-to-end solution architectures for federal sector engagements, including application, integration, data, and platform components.
- Lead architecture and design activities across projects, translating requirements into solution patterns, technical approaches, and architectural decisions.
- Establish and maintain architecture artifacts, including logical and physical architectures, integration designs, and non-functional requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to delivery teams through architecture reviews, design guidance, and alignment on implementation approaches.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate ArcGIS platform capabilities, deployment models, and integration patterns to meet client and delivery needs.
- Identify technical risks and constraints early, and define mitigation strategies related to security, performance, scalability, and operability.
- Support delivery planning by contributing to scoping, estimation inputs, and technical work breakdowns in collaboration with project leadership.
- Contribute to standards, best practices, and repeatable reference architectures that improve consistency and delivery quality within Federal Sector Services.
Minimum Education Requirement:
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, information technology, geographic information systems (GIS), geomatics, engineering, or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Esri Technical Certification in one or more relevant areas (such as ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, or related Esri technologies) is considered a strong asset.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in solution architecture, technical design, or senior technical delivery roles supporting complex Esri enterprise deployments.
- Experience designing multi-component solutions that include application architecture, integration patterns, and data architecture considerations.
- Experience with Esri enterprise deployment models (on-premises, cloud, or hybrid), including environment design, configuration considerations, and operational supportability.
- Experience working with security, privacy, and compliance requirements in regulated or sensitive environments, including identity and access concepts.
- Experience producing and governing architecture documentation and communicating architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to align architecture with delivery constraints, implementation approaches, and quality standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Must reside in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.
- Ability to attain Canadian Federal Government – Secret clearance, with priority given to candidates who already possess this level of clearance.
- Demonstrated ability to apply architectural judgment to complex, ambiguous requirements and translate them into practical solution approaches.
- Proven capability to influence technical alignment across delivery teams through clear direction, collaboration, and structured decision-making.
- Demonstrated understanding of solution quality attributes, including security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated professionalism and discretion when working with sensitive clients
Compensation & Benefits:
At Esri Canada, we are committed to fair and competitive compensation. This role offers a base salary range of $102,000 to $136,000 annually, and additional commission/incentive, determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. We regularly benchmark across a variety of positions, industries and levels to ensure we remain competitive in the market.
