Manager, Talent and Organizational Development– Human Resources

Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a Manager, Talent and Organizational Development to join our Human Resources department.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources the person in this role will strengthen and evolve how we attract, develop, and retain talent across the organization.

This role brings together talent acquisition, talent management, and systems, with accountability for both building effective practices and ensuring they are consistently applied. You will partner closely with leaders to support and guide talent decisions, bringing structure, clarity, and a forward-looking perspective aligned to business needs.

Over the next 12–18 months, you will also play a key role in advancing our talent approach as we implement new HRIS modules—establishing more consistent processes, improving visibility into talent, and supporting more informed decision-making. This role requires someone who can build, refine, and execute, with a focus on practical outcomes.

This role will be based remotely in Canada, with a preference for Ontario.

A Day in the Life of a Manager, Talent and Organizational Development at Esri Canada: 

  • Design and deliver leadership and employee development programs aligned to business needs
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, internal mobility, and team effectiveness
  • Train (coach) individual Team unit members to perform to the maximum of their ability and to co-ordinate the progressive skill development and cross training of employees.
  • Lead and develop a recruitment team, strengthening hiring outcomes, consistency, and candidate experience
  • Own and advance core talent practices, including talent reviews, succession planning, and development planning
  • Support the design and implementation of HRIS talent modules, reporting, and dashboards
  • Use data to identify gaps (e.g., hiring, readiness, capability) and support more informed decisions for current and future business needs
  • Introduce practical improvements to processes, tools, and ways of working, including the use of technology and AI where appropriate
  • Lead the rollout and adoption of new practices, ensuring they are understood and applied across teams
  • Effectively supervise and manage all department staff with respect to recruiting, selection and hiring, orientation, attendance, health and safety, Workers’ Compensation, progressive discipline, employee relations, Performance Management, Succession Planning, Salary Administration, training and development, delegation of specific responsibilities and employee dismissal.

 

What you bring to the team: 

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in talent management, talent development, or related human resources disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing or mentoring employees or small teams.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in adult learning, organizational development, human resources, business, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver end-to-end talent management strategies and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience building scalable programs and processes in a Centre of Excellence or similar environment.
  • Strong capability to balance structured thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, reporting, and insights to inform decisions and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working with HRIS and ATS platforms and translating business needs into practical system solutions.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, including leading talent discussions and focus groups.
  • Working knowledge of change management and adult learning principles, applied in practice.
  • A track record of improving talent practices using technology, evolving tools, and industry approaches.

 

Bonus points for this position:

  • Bilingual proficiency (English / French) is considered an asset.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

At Esri Canada, we are committed to fair and competitive compensation. This role offers a base salary range of $100,776 to $127,900 annually, and additional commission/incentive, determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
