GIS Application Specialist, Ontario Region
Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a GIS Application Specialist to join our Professional Services team in the Ontario Region
Reporting to the Professional Services Manager, Ontario Region, this role will contribute to the ongoing business operations of the company by effectively providing high quality delivery of assigned consulting projects and other client services. Provide effective technology and business consulting to Esri Canada’s customers.
This role is fully remote within Ontario, Canada.

A day in the life of a GIS Application Specialist at Esri Canada:
- Meet with customers to identify business objectives and/or problems that can be solved with a GIS based solution
- Design creative GIS solutions focused on off the shelf Esri technology
- Install, configure and upgrade Esri technology including desktop, geodatabase, ArcGIS Enterprise and Online web and mobile solutions
- Assist with migration strategies for version upgrades of Esri technology
- Coordinate and validate technical response and estimation for proposal submissions
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process and process improvement
- Act as a technical mentor and advisor to junior resources
- Work with clients to assist them during the implementation process of software
- Provide database design expertise, application support and prototype development
- Contributing to needs analysis, functional requirements definition, and business solution needs as outlined by a customer
- Provide demonstrations of Esri technology to prospective and existing customers
- Proactively pursue self-instruction on all relevant technical topics
What you bring to the team:
- University degree in computer science, engineering, math, GIS or equivalent education and experience
- 5+ years’ experience in designing GIS based systems
- Demonstrable skills developing documentation for system installation, configuration and maintenance of Esri ArcGIS technology-based systems
- ArcGIS Enterprise installation and configuration experience
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and web GIS services management
- Experience with data structuring/modeling, application design and consulting related to asset management, and work management systems as they relate to enterprise GIS.
- Demonstrable skills developing documentation for system installation, configuration and maintenance
- Advanced knowledge of Esri technology
- Experience analyzing, and documenting user needs requirements
- Excellent customer focus and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills / relationship building
- Strong time management / multi-tasking ability
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
- Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Have G driver license and able to drive in Canada and US
- Experience with ArcGIS Web development APIs, Python and Arcade
- Experience configuring and deploying mobile applications based on Esri technology
- Experience configuring and deploying web applications based on Esri technology and templates
- Esri certification in Desktop, Enterprise Administration and Geodatabase Management
- Fluency in English is essential, as this role requires regular client communication and support in English-speaking regions
Assets for this position:
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based ArcGIS Enterprise deployments
- Experience with ArcGIS SDKs, APIs and/or Python development
- Experience configuring and deploying mobile applications based on Esri technology
- Experience configuring and deploying web applications based on Esri technology and templates
- System design, automation and process improvement experience
- Experience with customer-facing consulting services
Compensation & Benefits:
At Esri Canada, we are committed to fair and competitive compensation. This role offers a base salary range of $83,900 to $103,200 annually, determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. We regularly benchmark across a variety of positions, industries and levels to ensure we remain competitive in the market.
