Bilingual GIS Analyst, Community Maps

Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a full-time Bilingual GIS Analyst to join our Community Maps team.

Reporting to the Team Lead of Community Maps, the person in this role will support the Community Map of Canada program by assisting with the validation, quality review, and maintenance of geospatial data contributed by partner organizations. This entry‑level role focuses on learning and helping contributors understand data standards, resolve submission issues, and adopt the Community Map of Canada basemaps. The position focuses on learning and applying standardized tools and processes while supporting accurate and timely updates to create a national basemap and maintain public safety-grade data.

This role will be based remotely in Canada.

A Day in the Life of a Bilingual GIS Analyst at Esri Canada: 

 

  • Perform data translation and quality review of contributor‑submitted geospatial data for inclusion in the Community Map of Canada basemap and other content produced by Geospatial Infrastructure in accordance with defined standards and workflows.
  • Assist with data quality assessments to verify accuracy, completeness, and schema alignment for foundational and NG9‑1‑1 datasets to be used in basemapping and other content.
  • Participate in end-to-end support for basemap production system and workflows such as publishing and updating contributor data and escalating issues and feedback as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community contributors and maintain contributor records and related program information in designated systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Respond to contributor and other feedback, when assigned, in a timely and professional manner, following established processes.
  • Provide onboarding activities for new data contributors to Community Maps and NG9-1-1 programs, including documentation review and basic guidance on data submission requirements.
  • Maintain contributor records and related program information in designated systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of process documentation and reference materials, including supporting routine testing of tools and technologies to ensure Community Map of Canada basemap and other content are compatible within the Esri system and partnered technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop scripts, apps, or reports to assist with the continuous improvement of Community Maps established workflows and content delivery (including basement production).
  • Collaborate with Community Maps Advocacy team to promote the benefits of using Esri Canada produced content through social-selling campaigns, outreach events, community meetups, and conferences.
  • Develop StoryMaps, blogs, videos, and other communication material providing technical guidance, best practices and useful technical resources related to the use of content produced by Community Maps and Geospatial Infrastructure.

 

 

What you bring to the team: 

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform where technologies such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online were used as part of regular responsibilities.
  • Relevant internship or co‑op experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform may be considered toward meeting the minimum experience requirement.
  • Esri certification, such as ArcGIS Pro Associate, is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in geography, geomatics, GIS, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of GIS concepts and geospatial data acquired through academic study or applied learning.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow established data standards, procedures, and quality guidelines.
  • Proven customer service skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions to support workflow automation using languages and tools compatible with the Esri system such as Python, ArcGIS Notebooks, or Arcade.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external contributors.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established deadlines.
  • Bilingualism is a requirement to support French and English-speaking clients across Canada 

 

Compensation & Benefits:

This role offers a base salary range of $63,500 to $75,400 annually, determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
